This has been SUCH a good year. I made more from voiceovers this year than some of my other lines of business, and THAT is remarkable. And so amazing. A person could live on the salary that I’ve made this year from VO work. I am incredibly grateful and so overjoyed that it’s working! So, so grateful. It’s been awesome, and stupifying to see so much opportunity come my way, and that has really come solidly from prayer and from focused networking. Really getting out there and connecting with people…touching base after a while too, keeping myself on their radar, if that makes sense. Sometimes, even though you can make a really solid connection, people can forget you, and so my focus has been to remind people here and there…to touch base on occasion and “remind them that I’m here.” That truthfully does work and has worked. Ultimately it’s all about networking networking networking over and over and more and more and more. The more irons I put in the fire, the hotter the opportunities are when I pull them out.
I’ve got a great workshop coming up on January 12th, so if you’re interested in learning about how to get into voiceovers, I strongly suggest you attend! It’ll rock your world and overwhelm you (hopefully not) with lots of great, helpful resources and information to get you started on the road to self-employment in voiceovers, which is a field and industry that is RICHLY rewarding and full of a plethora of opportunities to get yourself out there in a variety of capacities: E-Learning, instructional videos, explainer videos, movie trailers, narration, audiobooks, TV & radio commercials, video games, animation, etc.. It’s really very enjoyable, and great dividends for even a short read. I love it!
Here’s to a great 2019…full of awesome opportunities, repeat clients, new clients, new projects, excellent opportunities, and a gold mine of possibilities! Each audition is a possibility…a chance. It’s an aim at something awesome, with the possibility of hitting gold and being able to deliver for yet another client yet another exciting, new project. I’m SO stoked at the possibilities!
Goals before me. Coaching under my belt. Learning new things. Challenging myself. Listening. Growing. Evolving. Developing into a better and more mature artist. Stretching myself. Wading into new ponds in search of new fish. Looking for minnows. Finding whales. 🙂
I’m also excited about VO Atlanta 2019. We have some things happening at home that will make it a bit challenging for me to be away – more on that later – but ultimately it will be ok. And it will be worth it! I’m excited to be learning, growing, rubbing shoulders with genius, and really gathering new information and ways to better myself and increase my scope and reach. That’s what growth is all about, right? Bettering oneself. That’s what I intend to do in 2019. Better myself.
Voiceovers are so rewarding. If you’re just getting into them, let me encourage and exhort you to greatness. You can do it! You can definitely be more than you thought you could be. You can become the voice of someone’s video or project…or SERIES of projects! You can do it. It’s within reach, it’s attainable, it’s beautiful, and it’s exquisite. Go get ’em, and congrats on a great year. 🙂
